How to Pack for Your Personal Retreat

The good news? You are most likely driving to your destination, so that simplifies everything.

I like to categorize my packing list to make it easier. Here’s how I divide it:

Cozy + Comfy

Work-Time

Me-Time

Cozy + Comfy

This involves looking at the weather, your accommodations, and even your intention and agenda. You want to be comfortable, but does that mean shorts and a t-shirt or a big sweater and jeans? Are you in a rental where you may not see another person, or an inn where you will go down in the morning and get coffee and possibly see other humans?

Do you like to put on a robe in the mornings or go straight to yoga clothes? Or, does working in your PJs sound like heaven? Pack accordingly.

One of the important parts of a personal retreat is to make sure you have some physical activity, whether that is 10 minutes of stretching, a daily run, or going out on a boat. Think about it and again, pack what you will need.

Pro tip: Bring some sort of throw/shawl. It makes me nuts when the room I’m in has wonderful places to sit, but nary a throw. So, summer or winter, one will come in handy.

Work-Time

Notebooks, pens, laptops, chargers. This is where setting your intention before you go is so important. Don’t take too much, and try not to take a lot of task-oriented things. Decide on your intention and plan around it.

Me-Time

What are you going to do with your Pamper/Fill Your Soul time? Sit on the beach? Sip a wonderful wine? Take a bubble bath? Paint? Color? Read? Make sure you take whatever you need -
Face mask?
Bath Bomb?
Speakers so you can dance?

You’re going to be by yourself, and you’re driving so no one can complain about what you pack. Pack exactly what you want.

Remember, the #1 reason you are going on this solo retreat is to be still and be quiet.
And you don’t need to pack anything for that.

Kimberly Sundt

When I’m not planning my own retreats, I work with lifestyle industries to create on-brand client experiences that lead to simplified marketing. I usually partner with interior design, boutique hotel, and small retail industries. I come in, fix your marketing problems, and then give you the tools to make it work!

But my seasonal personal retreats are my greatest business tool, helping me strengthen my soul and my salary - ha!
