Vision Boards 2025
What is a vision board and why do they work?
What you focus on expands, and a vision board helps you focus on your goals and dreams every time you look at it.
Yes, it is about manifestation and visualization, but it’s not about magic. It is about intention and ritual.
Looking at visual representations of your goals scientifically affects the way you think and how you make decisions.
Your reticular activating system (RAS) is how your brain filters thoughts and ideas. When you have a vision board, your brain accepts the positive thoughts around your goals, and filters out other thoughts that aren't helpful to your goals.
Okay, have I lost you yet?
Down on this page is an overview of how to create and use a vision board to make your 2025 everything you hope.
But, the easiest thing to do is to download the guide below, designed just for our Winter Collection customers.
Be quiet. Reflect. Set your intentions.
I know - this is the most difficult part, but it is so important. Even if you weren’t creating a vision board, you should still do this. Grab your journal and a pen, light a candle, and just start writing for a few minutes.
For some inspiration, read something or say a prayer. In your winter box, you have, Beauty in the Stillness and the chapter on Manifestation is helpful here.
Think about what you want to change in your life this year (or this month, or this quarter). Maybe you don’t want to change, but you want to develop in an area. Maybe you want to think about starting a business or going on a big vacation.
Write down those areas in your life that you want to give focus to.
A favorite way to do this is to write about your life during an ideal day say, a month from now, or a year from now. Describe it (in writing if you can) from the minute you wake up to the time you lay your head on your pillow.
Where are you waking up? What do you see? What is the first thing you do? Do you drive to meetings and appointments, or do you walk or take a train? What do you eat and drink? What do you wear? Who do you talk with? Where do you feel the best about yourself? Who is in your world?
Things that represent this version of you - or even the physical things you want in your life - go on your vision board.
Gather Your Supplies
Start gathering your supplies so you are ready. Here’s what you need:
A bulletin board - try and find one that is pretty if you are going to be hanging this in your office. This one you can order from Target and it looks good (Google for other stores). It is 20”x15” which is a medium size. Mine (in the photo below) is a bit bigger, but I know many people who use smaller boards. A corkboard is perfect, but a poster board or foam core also works. Use what you can find - you can always transfer it later!
Pushpins or thumbtacks. Target has really cute ones. You could use a stapler or tape, but pushpins make it easy to remove things, move them around, etc.
Scissors or paper cutter.
A printer if you are printing out images or quotes. And if you want to style your fonts, etc., Canva is a great way to do this!
Magazines and more magazines! The library usually has them, but if you are like me, you have dozens and dozens in piles all over the place. I have also been known to cut a photo out of a (rarely used) book, or something out of a calendar).
Put it together & bring it to life.
When you are ready to create your board, find a quiet place - give yourself an hour or two - light a candle - make some tea - pour a glass of wine. And don’t second-guess yourself!
You aren’t printing this thing out and showing it to the world. You can adjust and edit any time you feel like it. HAVE FUN! In the guide, you will see a couple of boards to inspire you.
You need to hang or place it in a spot where you will see it every day. If it isn’t in a place where you can’t help but notice it, you will forget about it.
You must make it a part of your day to bring it to life.
I love to do this in the morning, early, when it’s just me and my coffee. I’m still a little sleepy, but this starts my day in the most positive and exciting way.
I look at each image or word and think about them. Sometimes, I say it out loud.
Also, start a file where you put images or quotes that you may want to include the next time you update it.
